Despite being an avid guest blogger for others, it’s taken me ages to get round to setting up a blog of my own. So here it is, my very own space  to share more thoughts, ideas and tips about charities and marketing.

I’ve had a busy week launching the Lasa annual review. This year we wanted to do something a bit different that focused on our impact on the thousands of charities we work with across the UK, but which was punchy and cut through the clutter.

We decided to make an infographic a key part of our launch, which functioned as a way to engage with more people via social media and to drive more traffic to our website. I’m pleased to say that the results have been great, with lots of re-tweets and people tweeting positively about it. Bright One and NFP Voice have already blogged about it.

So what have I learned from this? I’m glad I decided to try something different. With marketing it’s so easy to fall into the trap of ‘let’s do it this way because we always have’ and not to take any risks, especially in the current climate when budgets are very tight.  But unless you try out a new idea,  how will you ever know if it will work?
